Caroline Renard is a first generation Haitian-American screenwriter and director from Miami, Florida who grew up as the youngest of five in a lively Caribbean family. Growing up, she learned to navigate two worlds; her creole-speaking neighborhood in Little Haiti and her elite magnet school in Coral Gables. Feeling like an awkward outsider, she turned to storytelling to help her cope with the dualities of her life, something she often explores in her writing. Before landing in Los Angeles, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in African American Studies and Sociology from Florida State University. Once in LA, like all millennials, she did a variation of industry and non industry jobs to pay the bills like waiting tables and driving for Uber, all while pursuing her true passion of becoming a Writer and Director. She’s written for television in the writers room of SECRETS OF SULPHUR SPRINGS and BOSSY BEAR while working on her own development. She is currently working on her feature directorial debut. She also co-hosted a podcast, "No Black Girls were Harmed in the Making of this..." where the two hosts examine Hollywood’s continued lack of Black Girl representation on screen. When she is not writing or directing, Caroline is a dog mom, and an ordained minister who’ll officiate your wedding for the price of champagne. As a creative, Caroline hopes to blend her love for her culture, dark comedy and whimsy into her storytelling for future generations.
